Health Training
Health care impacts nearly every person in the United States. From having a prescription filled to choosing a long-term care facility for an aging parent, we all experience a need for health care frequently throughout our daily lives. ACC Continuing Education/Workforce Development opens the door to allow you the opportunity to enter this dynamic and growing career field.
How to Apply
Alvin Community College has partnered with Viewpoint Screening to provide your background check and immunization management, which are required for the following programs. Failure to submit an order will delay the entrance into a program.
Instructions for the screening process. There is a $50 fee for this service, and is non-refundable even if you do not enroll into a Healthcare Program.

Important: As of July 28, 2016 per the amended Texas Administrative Code, Rule 97.64 Documentation of immunizations are required at the time of application and/or completed by the start of all clinical class enrollments and clinical visits to affiliate sites.

Biotechnology
These courses have been meticulously designed to cultivate proficiencies essential for entry-level roles in bio-manufacturing and the development of medical devices. The emphasis lies in furnishing students with competencies essential for effective operation within environments characterized by exacting sterility standards. A student can become a Biotech Material Handler in 6 weeks or a Biotech Core Tech in only 15 weeks. Learn More>
Patient Care Technician (PCT)
The Patient Care Technician program offers students three certifications in one program. Upon successful completion of each course, students will be eligible to test for certifications in electrocardiography, phlebotomy, and patient care technician. Learn More>
Clinical Medical Assistant
The Clinical Medical Assistant Program is a comprehensive course that will teach students the knowledge and skills to assist a physician in various aspects of health care. CMAs assist with medical procedures, perform basic lab tests, administer medications, implement treatments, and explain basic care to patients. Learn More>
Certified Nursing Assistant
Becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) prepares you for a fulfilling career as a health care provider and serves as a great entry-point into many careers in medicine including licensed vocational nurse or a registered nurse. Many people who complete the ACC CNA program, continue their medical training in one of the many allied health care training programs offered at ACC CNA work with nursing personnel to provide care and tend to the needs of people of all ages. Med Aide to LVN Bridge
Alvin Community College has created a cutting-edge curriculum to bridge the Continuing Education Workforce Development Medication Aid program to the credit Licensed Vocational Nurse program. Prospective students will have to meet specific entrance requirements, but once accepted, these students will be a part of a program that is developing the future of nursing. Learn More>
CPR
Through the ACC Continuing Education CPR Program, you can learn to give “the breath of life” in one of our one-day training courses. This class, which meets the American Heart Association requirements for CPR programs, provides the prospective or actual health care professional with the knowledge and skills needed to perform CPR with the use of an automated external defibrillator and bag mask for infant, child and adult patients. Dental Assistant
Under the direct supervision of dentists, the Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting with patient care, performing minor lab functions and providing administrative support for the office. Medical Office Billing and Coding
The Medical Office Billing and Coding program provides online and face-to-face instruction. The program prepares students to work in a medical office setting and provides the skills and knowledge necessary for a more advanced medical records career. Phlebotomy Technician (offered as part of Patient Care Tech)
Working under the direct supervision of a certified medical technician, phlebotomy technicians (PBT) are integral members of any medical laboratory department. Phlebotomy technicians collect blood samples, from both skin punctures and from veins, and transport specimens to the laboratory to ensure the stability of the sample. Learn More>

The Medication Administration program at Alvin Community College offers a 148-hour course designed for Certified Nurse Aides, focusing on safe medication administration in healthcare settings.
